Who We Are
With more than 200 UNA Chapters across the country and more than 20,000 members, the United Nations Association is the single biggest organization dedicated to supporting the UN and promoting the priorities behind its vital work.
For over 70 years, the Sacramento UNA Chapter has been dedicated to working within our community to educate, advocate, and collaborate for the continued support of the United Nations and its vital agencies. The UN stands as an international symbol of international peace, human rights, environmental protection, sustainable development, and global health and well-being.
What We Do
We work within our community to educate, advocate, and collaborate on behalf of the United Nations. With your support, we are proud to:
Host informational events led by policy experts and respected practitioners.
Participate in cultural celebrations in and around Sacramento.
Engage in advocacy work with local and national politicians in order to influence key policies and legislative priorities.
Promote issue-based programs to address climate change, human rights, poverty, global health, and sustainable development.
Support a Young Professionals network of local, internationally minded, young professionals.
Collaborate with other organizations that share our mission, vision, and values to promote partnerships & cooperation within our community
Why We Need You
The United Nations is the foremost leader in protecting human rights & tackling the world’s most complex problems through international cooperation; however, the United Nations needs support now more than ever to ensure that its vital work can continue.
But while the goals may be global, the work is local.
By promoting awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and by building knowledge and advocacy within our community, you can help build a Sacramento that works better for everybody.
Beyond that, your involvement and support ensures that you become a critical component of a global network advocating for the issues you care most about. These goals may be daunting. But we can make progress if we work together and commit to a movement based on principles of justice, dignity, and peace.
